The Grant Office for European Funding provides technical assistance to the institutions of the Ministry of Culture seeking to participate in directly managed EU funding programmes for the cultural and creative sectors, including Creative Europe, Erasmus+, Horizon Europe and the Interreg territorial cooperation programmes.

Our activities are organised around three main areas:

1. Capacity Building

Investing in the professional development of Ministry staff is the first step towards building strong expertise in EU project development.

To this end, the Grant Office provides Ministry staff with:

• training courses and refresher programmes on EU project development, project management and financial reporting;
• thematic workshops and hands-on training sessions designed to strengthen specific technical skills;
• guidance materials and multimedia resources on key aspects of EU project development;
• tailored operational support for identifying suitable funding opportunities, analysing calls for proposals and preparing competitive project applications.

Our objective is to enable every institution within the Ministry to participate effectively in EU funding programmes by developing a strong and widely shared base of internal expertise.

In addition, the Grant Office organises thematic webinars—some of which are open to external participants—covering topics related to EU project development, European funding opportunities and the management of EU-funded projects.

2. Communication

Timely and accessible information is essential to enabling effective participation in EU funding opportunities. To this end, the Grant Office:

• publishes a regular newsletter for Ministry staff featuring updates on open calls for proposals, European funding opportunities, best practices and relevant policy developments;
• manages and regularly updates the Grant Office’s institutional webpage, providing guidance, resources and information on EU funding programmes (i.e. infographics, factsheets, and practical guides);
• participates in sector-specific events, trade fairs and conferences to strengthen the Ministry’s visibility in EU-funded initiatives and encourage the exchange of knowledge and best practices.

3. Networking

Strong European partnerships are a key factor in the success of EU-funded projects. The Grant Office therefore promotes:

• Strategic collaboration between the Ministry’s institutions and external organisations, including EU bodies, universities, research centres and other public and private stakeholders;
• Partner identification and matchmaking to support joint participation in EU calls for proposals;
• Support in building consortia for transnational projects, with a particular focus on cooperation opportunities in the Mediterranean region.

Through these activities, the Grant Office strengthens the international dimension and visibility of the Ministry’s institutions, transforming participation in European projects into concrete opportunities for growth, innovation and cultural exchange.
